What We’ve Done Recently
- We assembled two teams to negotiate the contracts for both Unit A and Unit C. Both contracts were recently ratified following numerous negotiation sessions.
- We received grant funding for new GEA t-shirts.
- We held a Walk and Rally on 5/17/23 and a follow-up Protest on 5/25/23 to show support for our schools as they faced severe underfunding in the Mayor’s proposed budget.
- We held a Day of Action on 12/21/22 with members walking from GMS to the Town Common, picketing outside City Hall, and attending the City Council meeting to make public comments about the mayor’s proposed education budget which does not have the funds necessary to provide Greenfield students and educators with the schools they deserve. You can read more in The Recorder article here.
- We fought to return after-hours building access to all teachers in the fall of 2022.
- We surveyed members to determine their current step and degree information as part of salary negotiations.
- Organized members to turn out in high numbers at School Committee and City Council meetings.
- We encouraged members to reach out to the Mayor and the City Council to fully fund GPS schools.
- We launched two Action Network Letter Writing Campaigns asking that the City of Greenfield allocate additional funding to allow the District to settle fair contracts. Click here for our talking points.
- Members are always welcome to email our School Committee and City Council members.
